In this special edition of Who’s Counting? With Cleta Mitchell, Cleta discusses one of the most important sentences in our founding documents. The very first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence states, “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
The Founders intentionally added that these powers must be just, and the Constitution went on to codify the manner through which these just powers are given or withdrawn by the governed – through our election system.
On this Independence Day in 2023, two countervailing influences are engaged in our elections. One is the dark money of leftwing billionaires seeking to disrupt elections and discourage voters.
But the other is that every day, growing numbers of citizen patriots are engaging in reclaiming our elections from the corruption and confusion of the left, and reestablishing election integrity as our Founders intended.
