One Person |One Vote Reconciliation Rule Protects Georgia Voters

August 18 deadline for public comment before State Board of Election votes on the rule.

A leading state and national election integrity advocate is urging Georgia voters to express support for proposed State Board of Election reconciliation rules that demand accurate counts before certifying elections.

“Count the votes, compare with the number of people who have voted, ensure they line up, and publish the results,” explained Cleta Mitchell, founder of Election Integrity Network and co-founder of the Only Citizens Vote coalition.

That’s the simple, common-sense proposed rule up for a vote before Georgia’s state election board (SEB) on Aug. 19. The measure creates a standard procedure for counties to comply with existing requirements in GA Code § 21-2-493(b), which mandates reconciliation of voter numbers to ballot counts prior to certification of election results.

The deadline for public comment is August 18th.

“The most important step every election official and office can take in 2024 is to make sure election results are accurate,” Mitchell said. “That means reconciling the number of voters to equal the number of ballots to equal the number of votes. Voters = ballots = votes.  No election should be certified until those numbers match.”

Citizens of Georgia who want to voice their support can sign up to speak at the August 19th SEB hearing here, or send comments to this email address on or before August 18th: [email protected].

Ms. Mitchell is available for media interviews to explain the importance of the rule adjustments during the public comment period. #
